Features Breakdown
32 Single Zone Switch-able Trigger Inputs:
The onboard trigger inputs’ individual functions are not set by the hardware. The ports can be paired as Dual Zone (piezo/switch), Dual Zone (piezo/piezo), Dual Zone (switch/switch), Three Zone (piezo/switch/switch), and so on. They can also be set as single zone piezo or switch. The pairing options can be increased via future software upgrades.
Variable Hi-Hat Control:
The Hi-Hat controller uses varied resistance to determine the position of the pedal to allow for closed, partially open, full open positions. The control will also be able to register foot splash triggers via software.
8 Analog Audio Inputs:
There will be 8 built in analog audio input jacks (6 Unbalanced ¼” and 2 Balanced XLR). This will allow for the mixing of standard drum microphones through the drum module. These will also be used for on the fly sampling and recording.
2 Digital Audio Inputs:
There will be 1 S/PDIF RCA input jack on the module. This is a 2 channel digital input signal. This will allow for the digital connection of an external mixer or audio source that will be mixed through the systems internal mixer and can be used for on the fly sampling and recording.
8 Analog Audio Outputs:
There will be 8 analog unbalanced ¼” audio output jacks that will be independently mixed through the module software. These can be paired in any way for the modules output.
2 Digital Audio Outputs:
There will be 1 S/PDIF RCA output jack on the module. This is a 2 channel digital output signal. This will allow for the digital connection of an external mixer or recorder. The digital signal will be independently mixed via software.
10/100BaseT RJ45 Ethernet Interface / IEEE 1394 Firewire Interface:
The system will include both a RJ45 Ethernet and IEEE 1394 Firewire interface. These will allow for direct connection to the module via PC or Mac. External management software will be included to upload and download files to and from the module, and will allow for system configuration remotely. The Ethernet interface will be TCP/IP based and can support both static and dynamic IPv4 and IPv6 IP addresses. Future IP protocols will be supported via software upgrades.
VGA LCD Display:
The module will feature a VGA LCD display capable of displaying at a resolution of 640x480 in full 16-bit color. The system will have an intuitive graphical user interface and menu system to make module configuration very user friendly and simple. The display will also give instant status information for the module.
MIDI Capability:
The module will have full MIDI functionality. It will allow for the module to trigger an external MIDI sequencer and will allow for the triggering of external MIDI sequencers and Trigger to MIDI converters. The system will also use the same method for the onboard sequencer.
USB based triggering system:
The system will use a standard USB interface internally for the trigger inputs. This will allow for plug and play expansion. This will remove the requirement for a trigger to MIDI converter to add more triggers to the unit. The system will have an auto sensing system to recognize added inputs and will automatically configure them into the current trigger inputs. (I.e. System will have 32 inputs standard; the addition of another 32 strip will tell the module that it has 64 inputs instead of 32)
Sequencer:
The onboard sequencer will use the standard MIDI format to both read and record triggering sequences. These will be saved in the standard .mid file format. This allows for easy editing on most PCs and Macs. The system will also read .mid files which make creating backing sequences very simple on most PCs and Macs.
Multi-Track Recorder:
The system will have the ability to record all inputs individually internally on the module. This will allow users to import the tracks directly into mastering software such as Pro-Tools. This also removes the limitation of having only 8 analog outputs and allows for true 1-1 recording. The tracks can also be mixes of multiple outputs along with backing tracks. The tracks can be downloaded from the module using the remote management software.
MP3/CD Audio Recorder:
The system will have the ability to record mixes directly to a raw PCM format. This can be encoded to MP3 (or other formats defined in the software), burned directly to a CD Audio track, or saved in the raw format for future use. All files saved on the system can be downloaded via remote management software or burned onto a CD.
Downloadable Samples / On the Fly Sample Creation:
In addition to the audio samples provided on the module from the factory, samples can be created using external software or the onboard on the fly sample creator. The on the fly system uses a drum microphone plugged into one of the analog audio inputs or digital audio inputs and saves the sample in a compressed audio format. The audio format will be high bit rate MP3 by default but other encoding formats can be used based on the current software capability. The samples can be downloaded from the module using the remote management software to allow for backup, transferring, or sharing. The remote management software will also allow for the uploading of other drum samples created in the modules format.
Media Player:
The system will have an integrated media player that will play encoded media formats such as WAV, MP3, OGG, etc. as well as standard CD-Audio from the built in DVD/CD-RW optical drive. The system will NOT support DRM or any other form of audio encryption.
Internal IDE Hard Disk Drive:
The system will include an 80GB internal HDD standard that can be factory upgraded to a higher capacity. The hard drive will not only contain the system software, it will also hold media files, recordings, drum samples, and all configuration files.
DVD-ROM / CD-RW:
The system will have a standard DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive built in. This will allow for user to upload files such as media files and drum samples to the module without the need for direct computer connection. It also allows users to upgrade their module with latest software released for the module. Users can also play audio CDs and DVDs using the media player.
Standard Intel x86 System Architecture:
The module will use standard readily available PC components. This lowers the overall cost of production and allows for module upgrades without the need to buy an all new module saving the end user money. If a component is changed the module can be factory upgraded with just that component for much less money than it would be if user had to purchase an all new module. Because the architecture is already in existence and does not require any modifications for this solution, no proprietary designs are required for the core system.
Software Based Functionality:
All system control and features are driven by the software located on the hard drive, this allows for upgrades and updates to add new features and remove bugs from current features. This also lowers the overall cost of production and ultimately saves the end user money.
Component Based Hardware Design:
Instead of having everything on one component, the system uses many components allowing for simpler warranty repairs and limitless future upgrades.
